Embarrassed by her behavior, Gwen has called to apologize and invite Max to dinner. Gwen was a good friend of Maxs mother before her marriage to Maxs father and was just surprised to see that Max had grown so large. Max is bigger than most people.

This secret Unit is where theyre building a bionic robot. Max doesnt know what bionics means, but he begs Freak not to make him look it up in the dictionary.
She was frightend because Max looked like his dad and it scared her to see him. Fair Gwen was good friends with Maxs mother, they were both pregnant with Max and Freak at the same time. She felt bad that she was scared and ran so she invited Max over for dinner.
Gwens initial fear of Max in Freak the Mighty stems from his resemblance to his father, who has a violent past. Over time, her perception changes as she witnesses Maxs kindness and bravery, especially in his friendship with Kevin. This shift allows her to see Max as an individual, separate from his fathers shadow.
Summary: Chapter 7: Walking High Above the World From his perch, Freak spots Blades gang coming at them from all directions. He tells Max to go left, but Max is confused between his lefts and rights. Freak kicks him like a horse, sending Max to the left.
Why does Max think that the Fair Gwen ran away with Freak? Max thinks the Fair Gwen is scared of him.
