Ideally, a well-structured chapter includes the following elements: A title or heading. An interesting introduction. Main body informative paragraphs. A summary of the chapter. Smooth transition to the next chapter.
A chapter is a section of a book. Like a scene, it must also contain a beginning, a middle, and an end.
Typically, chapters are between 1500 to 5000 words long. Depending on how the story is paced and how much information is included in each chapter of the story. The length of each chapter will change throughout the book.
In the Caption dialog box click Numbering. Select the Include chapter number check box. In the Chapter starts with style list, select the heading style that was applied to the chapter heading. In the Use separator list, select a punctuation mark to separate the chapter number from the caption number.
An epigraph is a short quotation, saying, or poem that is used in novels. These (often fictional) quotations can either be included at the start of the book or at the beginning of each chapter. An example is the epigraph, lawyers, I suppose, were children once, used in To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Parts are used to group chapters, and chapters contain the main content of the resource.
While a chapter may be divided by section breaks, a group of chapters is conventionally called a part, often identified with a Roman numeral, e.g. Part II. Reference material may be divided into sections. The section headers of a Chinese dictionary are one example.
A chapter is a chunk of a book that comes to a recognizable end, usually marked by a page break or by an extra space followed by a new numbered or titled chapter. Chapters give readers of long works a place to pause. They provide a rhythm to the experience of reading.
