OpenOffice.org (OOo), commonly known as OpenOffice, is a discontinued open-source office suite. Active successor projects include LibreOffice (the most actively developed), Apache OpenOffice and Collabora Online.
If you used File New Labels, you can just change the top left label, then click the Synchronize button to make all the others like that one. Alternatively, you should be able to simply change the style: put the cursor in any label, right-click Edit Style. Change the font and off you go.
Create the type of format/placement that you want for your labels. Once you are happy with it, copy it to the rest of the labels. Fill your labels with necessary information. Print them out.
Simply treat Avery label sheets like you would blank sheets of paper. Insert them into your printers paper tray or feed the sheets through the manual feed tray. All printers are different, so make sure you check which way up to place the labels into your printer so they are printed correctly.

Re: How to change the author. The document author is set from the information under Tools Options OO.org User Data, which you can change to whatever you want. When you start a new document, the author name is copied from there.
