Starting with Android 8.0 (API level 26), notification badgesalso known as notification dotsappear on a launcher icon when the associated app has an active notification. Users can touch hold the app icon to reveal the notifications, along with any app shortcuts, as shown in figure 1.
On Android (8.0 and higher), notification badges (or notification dots) are automatically displayed on your app icon when users have unread push notifications. Users can long-press on the app icon to see the list of unread notifications. Androids notification badges are simple coloured dots.
import Badge from react-bootstrap/Badge; function ButtonExample() { return ( Profile 9 unread messages );
An icon badge displays as a small circle or a number on the corner of an apps icon. If an app has one or more notifications, it will have a badge. Some apps will combine multiple notifications into one and may only show the number 1. Other times, the badge may go away if you clear your notifications.
The number of red dots appearing in the corner of the red circle you see are considered the badge count, and this number indicates how many outstanding messages a given user has.
When you turn on badges, certain app icons can display information. If you turn on badges for Mail, for example, the number of unread emails in your inbox appears above the Mail icon on your Home Screen.
Badge Count reflects all unread mail from your mail account(s), or just unread mail in your Focused Inbox.
