See Marvas excellent answer to a similar question below. I do the same: I write the persons name who is asking for the autograph and a short phrase and then my name and my signature happy face. The phrase can be something like: Cheers! or Happy Teaching! or Best to You! Whatever!
Start with a short introduction and make your request brief, polite, and casual, such as Excuse me, I recognized you and Im a fan. Would you mind autographing this for me? Avoid touching the celebrity without permission, and thank them for their time, even if they decline your request.
Value: Signatures hold legal and contractual value, whereas autographs can hold sentimental and monetary value, depending on the significance of the person who signed them.
