this is Susan Bradley for CSOonline this week weamp;#39;re going to talk about Remote Desktop and specifically certain tweaks that we can do to make it more secure so howamp;#39;s everyone doing we already know that itamp;#39;s going to be at least until April 30th work until the United States comes out of work from home quarantine guidelines from the president and weamp;#39;re probably making sure that our home users are set up they can remote in your bandwidth is holding up but youamp;#39;re also probably like me a little concerned that your users will click on something theyamp;#39;re not supposed to and bring something into the network so what things can you do to beef up that remote desktop first and foremost I hope that no one is opening up 3389 directly to the web thereamp;#39;s a program called Tiaamp;#39;s Greiner itamp;#39;s been around for years and itamp;#39;s long been used to brute-force the password on open connections and donamp;#39;t think about moving that

By default, there are two ways to authenticate the client: client ID and client secret, or client authentication with signed JWT.
KeyCloak offers fine-grained access control through role-based access control (RBAC), allowing administrators to define specific permissions for users and groups. OAuth 2.0 provides coarse-grained access control, typically granting access to entire resources rather than individual operations or data fields.
Keycloak provides administrators with tools to create, modify, and delete user accounts across all the apps that use Keycloak. They can assign roles and permissions to users within each Keycloak realm, which is a logical grouping of users, apps, and their corresponding roles and credentials.
Once the user has successfully authenticated with Keycloak, an Authorization Code is created and the user agent is redirected back to the application. The application then uses the authorization code along with its credentials to obtain an Access , Refresh and ID from Keycloak.
A common implementation is to access APIs with the OAuth2 client credentials grant type. In this scenario, the API client uses its client ID and client secret to request an access . The access is then used on subsequent calls against the protected endpoints to authenticate the API client.
Enabling Authorization Services Click Clients to start creating a new client application and fill in the Client ID, Client Protocol, and Root URL fields. Click Save. On the Client Details page, click the Authorization Enabled switch to ON, and then click Save.
Client applications can use a specific endpoint to obtain a special security called a Requesting Party (RPT). This consists of all the entitlements (or permissions) for a user as a result of the evaluation of the permissions and authorization policies associated with the resources being requested.
Once a user logs in to the Keycloak server, they are authenticated, and their identity is verified. The users identity is then mapped to the applications they can access. Keycloaks authorization system allows administrators to define what apps particular users can access and what they can do within those systems.
