Turn off the scroll lock on Windows computers One of the most common reasons you may not use the arrow keys is youve turned on the scroll lock. Look for the scroll lock button on your keyboard to see if youve enabled it.
Begin by selecting all the arrows you wish to straighten. Using your select objects cursor, you can hold down the Shift key and drag your selection box so that only the arrows are entirely encased. You can also hold Shift while clicking to select each arrow you would like to adjust.
Pressing an arrow key while SCROLL LOCK is on will scroll one row up or down or one column left or right. To use the arrow keys to move between cells, you must turn SCROLL LOCK off. To do that, press the Scroll Lock key (labeled as ScrLk) on your keyboard.
Turn off the scroll lock in Excel. So, you must disable that feature to get the arrows to work again. Check the light on the Scroll Lock button of your keyboard to see if this is the case. You can disable the scroll lock without using a keyboard by: Clicking the Search Menu, then looking for On-Screen Keyboard.
Click Away: Simply click anywhere outside of the range youre selecting. This action should cancel the selection process and make the crosshair cursor disappear. Press Escape (Esc) Key: Pressing the Esc key on your keyboard can also cancel the cell selection process and remove the crosshair cursor.
Select the cell in the worksheet where you want the drop-down list. Go to the Data tab on the Ribbon, then select Data Validation. On the Settings tab, in the Allow box, select List. If its OK for people to leave the cell empty, check the Ignore blank box.
How to fix the arrow keys not working in Excel Open the Start menu and select the search box at the bottom of the screen. Search for and launch the on-screen keyboard. Look at the right side of the keyboard. This shows you all of the lock keys. Select the ScrLk key. This disables the scroll lock.
