You can’t make document alterations more convenient than editing your DITA files on the web. This element is part of the DITA programming domain, a special set of DITA elements designed to document programming tasks, concepts, and reference information. The element defines an operator within a syntax definition. Typical operators are equals (=), plus (+) or multiply (*).
DITA map and topic documents are XML files. As with HTML, any images, video files, or other files that must appear in the output are inserted via reference. Any XML editor or even text editor can be used to write DITA content, depending on the level of support required while authoring.
The task topic includes sections for describing the context, prerequisites, actual steps, expected results, troubleshooting, example, and expected next steps for a task.
Creating a DITA Topic in Oxygen XML Editor Select File New or click the New button on the toolbar. Step Result: The New Document Wizard is displayed: Go to Framework templates DITA topic and select the type of topic that you want to create. Select a file path where it will be saved. Click Create.
DITA includes three main topic types: Task, Concept, and Reference. Tasks are used to describe how to perform a procedure. Concepts present descriptive information so the reader can understand the background and context of a subject. Reference topics provide detailed facts, often in a table.
Content created using DITA is in XML format, making it machine-readable. DITA content is componentized, arranged in topics and maps, and most commonly stored in a component content management system (CCMS).
Information Types DITA provides three base topic types (concept, task, and reference), a number of extended topic types, and the capability to create new topic types through specialization.
