When writing an address out in a letter or email, you will need to use commas to separate the name from the address, the street address from the city and the city from the state. For example: Robert Robertson, 1234 NW Bobcat Lane, St. Robert, MO 65584-5678.
The abbreviation for county is Co. and should be placed before the proper name of the county. The following line should contain the postal code. The final line of the address should have the countrys name.
The bottom line of the address should show only the COUNTRY name, written in full (no abbreviations) and preferably in capital letters. Do not place the postal codes (ZIP Codes) of foreign country designations on the last line of the address.
When an individual state name that appears anywhere in a business address must be compressed or abbreviated because of space restrictions, use the standard State abbreviation listed in Appendix B. Note: Use US for United States. Use USA for United States of America.
US shipping addresses include the recipients name in the first line. Then, add the street (generally house number and street name). Add the name of the city, two-letter state abbreviation, and relevant zip code. Then, add the country at the bottom.
How to properly write an address on a letter, on a package, or on a postcard? The first line includes the full name of a recipient, the second has a house number and a street name, and the third line is a town or a city name, a state abbreviation, and a zip code.
