So a new feature in Numbers 5.0, which just came out, is the ability to import data from text files and have more options on how the data is brought in. Before if the data wasnt quite perfectly formatted then you may end up having to make lots of adjustments or maybe not even be able to use the data directly from the file. Now you can do things like this. Lets go to Open and Im going to select a file here that just has some census data. Just a random census file I downloaded from a government website. Im going to open it up and itll open up the data here. It looks pretty good actually. But in addition to seeing the data I also get Table data with imported.Adjust Settings. So here I can click Adjust Settings and I get this additional control here that allows me to do a bunch of different things. First it shows me the input here. It looks just like it does over here. But I can now make adjustments and see them reflected here. So, for instance, I can say Separate Values not using

Lets select the cell range we want to apply wrapped text to. Then click on the text wrapping icon on the toolbar. Select wrap the middle option from the dropdown menu. And there you have it the cells are wrapped.
Create a custom text format In the Format sidebar, click the Cell tab. Click the Data Format pop-up menu, then choose Create Custom Format. Type a name for your format, then click the Type pop-up menu and choose Text. In the text field, type text that you want to appear automatically in each cell that uses this format.
Select the cells in which you want text to wrap. Choose Alignment from the Format menu, then choose Wrap from the submenu. Note: A long entry might wrap below the border of the cell.
Use vertical text in Numbers on Mac Control-click the object you want to use vertical text. Choose Turn On Vertical Text. If the object already contains text, it becomes vertical and any additional text you add is vertical. To make the text horizontal again, Control-click the object, then choose Turn Off Vertical Text.

Add a text box While viewing Numbers in landscape orientation, tap. in the toolbar, then tap Text in the Basic category. Drag the text box to where you want it. Double-tap the placeholder text, then enter your own. To resize the text box, drag the selection handle on the left or right side of the box.
In the TextEdit app on your Mac, do either of the following: Choose Format Wrap to Window to wrap text in the TextEdit window. Choose Format Wrap to Page to wrap text within page margins.
On the Home tab, in the Alignment group, click Wrap Text. (On Excel for desktop, you can also select the cell, and then press Alt + H + W.) Notes: Data in the cell wraps to fit the column width, so if you change the column width, data wrapping adjusts automatically.
Create a new text box Click Text in the toolbar. A text box is added to your sheet (you can change how it looks later). Click the text box, then type your own text to replace the placeholder text. Resize the text box, if necessary, by selecting it and dragging any selection handle (a white square).
Open your workbook in Numbers and select the spreadsheet you want to adjust.Then, follow these steps. Select the cell or group of cells. Open the right-hand sidebar by clicking the Format button on the top right. Choose the Text tab at the top of the sidebar. Check the box for Wrap text in cell.
