Will people stick to that, or will they just fill in the blue fields, or are they going to go and maybe type in stuff in other places as well? Well, some people are probably going to do that, right? Here are the steps to Lock Cells with Formulas: With the cells with formulas selected, press Control + 1 (hold the Control key and then press 1). In the format cells dialog box, select the Protection tab. Check the Locked option. Click ok.
Go to Options. Click Advanced in the left pane. Scroll down to the Display section and select the Show Formula bar option.
To lock the row reference, put the $ sign before the row number. To lock the column reference, put the $ sign before the column letter. To lock both the row and column reference, put the $ sign before both the row number and column letter. Another advantage of using the $ sign is that its easy to remember.
Prevent a formula from displaying in the formula bar Click Home Format Format Cells. On the Protection tab, select the Hidden check box. Click OK. Click Review Protect Sheet.
For locking the cell reference of a single formula cell, the F4 key can help you easily. Select the formula cell, click on one of the cell reference in the Formula Bar, and press the F4 key. Then the selected cell reference is locked.

How do you lock formulas in Excel but allow data entry? For locking cells containing formulas, but allowing other data entry, select Go To special under Find and Select in the Home section of the ribbon menu. Select formulas under the Go To special window. This will select only the cells that contain formulas.
Place a $ before the column letter if you want that to always stay the same. Place a $ before a row number if you want that to always stay the same. For example, $C$3 refers to cell C3, and $C$3 will work exactly the same as C3, expect when you copy the formula.
