hello folks Welcome to our opening of the Morgantown History Museum praying event called the history of Morgantown printers and today we have former colleagues in attendance that were printers over the years and were going to talk about the history of of these printers and their print shops and how things have gone uh over the years and um first thing Im going to do is talk about the locations of some of these printers I did some of the the history of the printers as much as I could tell from City directories and early printers in Morgantown the earliest printer in Morgantown was a weekly newspaper called the modern day Gazette and the Morgantown Advertiser and um that was in 1803 and those printers here in Morgantown were the first printers west of the alleghens uh to to have any kind of a print shop they also you know did Job Shop friends which a lot of early newspapers did uh they they opened up did a weekly newspaper and then they would maybe print some stuff for people and um s
