Once you have the Document Properties menu open, select the Security category from the Categories list. Under Document Security, you will have access to the Security Method drop-down menu. To make your PDF non-editable and read-only, select Password Security from the drop-down menu.
Open a file in Acrobat and choose Tools Protect. Select whether you want to restrict editing with a password or encrypt the file with a certificate or password. Set password or security method as desired. Click OK and then click Save.
On Windows, just right-click your PDF and select Properties Read-only OK. On a Mac computer, the process is a little more complex. Select the PDF and click File Get Info. You can then set access rights under the Sharing Permissions tab.
Navigate to the Security tab and click Manage Security. Check the box that says, Set a password to restrict editing of security settings. Enter a password. Set restrictions, including whether to allow printing and which changes you wish to allow. You can also forbid copying text and images.
4 answers Start Run with Win + R. Type in optionalfeatures. Scroll down to Windows Print to PDF or similar in your language. Uncheck the box. Restart your computer.
Using a permissions password, you can restrict printing, editing, and copying content in the PDF. Recipients dont need a password to open the document in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. They do need a password to change the restrictions youve set.
Restrict printing, editing, and copying Open the PDF in Acrobat, and do one of the following: If you receive a prompt, click Yes to change the security. Select Restrict editing and printing of the document. Type the password in the corresponding field. Select what the user can print from the Printing allowed menu:
