Say you have a pdf, you open it up in the default app which is Preview. How do you now edit that pdf to create a new modified version? Well, the answer is you really dont. You dont edit a pdf. Instead you edit the source document. So heres what youve got. Youve got a pdf document opened up in Preview. You could do a lot of things with this pdf document. You can highlight it. You can annotate it. You can export it. You can even rearrange the pages. But what you cant do is actually edit the content of the document. If youve accidentally overwritten a PDF file, you can restore it back to a previous version using the File History feature in Windows. Right-click your PDF file and click Restore previous versions. Select another version of your file (one dated before you saved it last) Click Restore.
In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF or image. Choose File Save. To save a file using a different filename, press and hold the Option key, choose File Save As, then enter a name. Choose where you want to save the file, select a file format, then click Save.
1) You should first go to Settings Application Settings. Uncheck the box for PDF Viewing. 2) If that does not work, then in docHub, go to Edit Preferences Internet and look under the Web Browser Options you will need to make sure you have it set to allow web viewing.
Once you annotate a regular PDF doc, Preview will prevent you from directly saving the file. You will have to remove the annotations or, as you already found, do a Print - Save to PDF. As a workaround I did a Print|Save to PDF . That does work.

On your Mac, open the document, then choose File Revert To Browse All Versions. Click tick marks along the timeline to browse versions. Display the version you want, then do one of the following: Restore your document to this version: Click Restore.
