Paste. On your computer, open a Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides file. Select the text, range of cells, or object you want to copy the format of. In the toolbar, click Paint format. . Select what you want to paste the formatting onto. The formatting will change to be the same as the formatting you copied.
Select the portion of code youd like to copy, then go the Edit menu and select Copy Special - Copy as RTF. Your code, complete with syntax highlighting colors, is now stored on the clipboard. Simply press Ctrl + V in your other application to paste the code with syntax highlighting. Its that simple!
Choose Format Copy Style (from the Format menu at the top of your screen). Select other text where you want to apply the style, or place the insertion point in text, then choose Format Paste Style.
RTF preserves the formatting and structure of a document, including fonts, colors, tables, and images, regardless of the software used. This ensures that the intended appearance is maintained across different platforms.
Tip: If youd prefer to use the keyboard, in step 3, you can press Ctrl+Alt+V to invoke Paste Special. In the Paste Special dialog, on the left, select either Paste or Paste link, as described below. Paste allows you to insert formatted text, unformatted text, or an image.
Use smart paragraph selection Select this option to select the paragraph mark when you select a whole paragraph. If you include the paragraph mark when you cut and paste a paragraph, you dont leave a blank paragraph, and your formatting automatically stays with the paragraph.
If you use Ctrl+V or the Paste command, only formatted text will be pasted. To paste without formatting, you should use the Paste special command (Alt+Shift+V) instead.
Set default paste options Go to File Options Advanced. Under Cut, copy, and paste, select the down arrow for the setting to change. Pasting within the same document When you paste content into the same document from which you copied the content. Each setting has options you can set: Keep Source Formatting. Select OK.
