Sometimes, it can mean that some other app is conflicting with the standard keyboard shortcuts or the Mouse Key is enabled. If the copy and paste feature is still not working, you can restart the Mac by going to the Apple menu and choosing the Restart button.
For something as commonplace as pasting, a keyboard shortcut is welcome, and Apples default is Command-Shift-Option-V. That works in many apps, although the slightly simpler Command-Shift-V is also frequently usedits what youll find in docHub InDesign, Nisus Writer Pro, and even the Web interface of Google Docs.
Press Command-C. Or choose Edit Copy from the menu bar. Or Control-click (or right-click) the item you selected, then choose Copy from the shortcut menu.
Click where you want to begin the selection, hold down the left mouse button, and then drag the pointer over the text that you want to select. Double-click anywhere in the word. Move the pointer to the left of the line until it changes to a right-pointing arrow, and then click.
You can right-click on the target document and choose Paste and Match Style from the list. Or you can use the standard keyboard shortcut Command + Option + Shift + V, which involves both remembering the combination and some digit dexterity.
