The Microsoft XPS Document Writer (MXDW) is a print-to-file driver that enables a Windows application to create XML Paper Specification (XPS) document files on versions of Windows starting with Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
How To Convert XPS Documents Open your XPS file in Able2Extract, or Able2Extract Pro for scanned XPS files. Select and highlight the content you need to convert. In the toolbar, click on the format icon you need to convert to (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, HTML, TXT, etc.) Save your file in the Save As dialogue box.
How to Edit an XPS File Right-click on the document. Select Properties. Click Change from the General tab. Choose a program that you want to open the document in. Click OK to open the program and make the changes. Click the File tab and then Save As. Enter a new filename in the File Name field.
The XPS format is similar to PDF because both file types are designed to show the final appearance of a document and provide information for printing. However, XPS files are written in a different programming language.
Similar to a PDF, an XPS file is a fixed-layout document that cannot be edited, which means it does not lend itself to being opened in a document editor like Word.
Most XPS files contain text data that is readily available for copying. Right-click the XPS document, select Open With, and then select XPSviewer.exe to open and view your document. Hold down the Ctrl key and type the letter A. Hold down the Ctrl key and type the letter C.
XPS is the MS equivalent of PDF. There is no way of editing XPS files. You have to keep the original DOCX / DOC format file, do your editing there and then save a new XPS file.
