Im starting with this document and this document, and I want to copy text from this document and paste it into the other. So naturally Im going to select that text. Then I can go to the Home ribbon and click the Copy button, then switch over to the other document. Im just going to make a new paragraph in the middle of this section. A living will is a written, legal document that spells out medical treatments you would and would not want to be used to keep you alive, as well as your preferences for other medical decisions, such as pain management or organ donation. In determining your wishes, think about your values.
In Ontario, you can create a living will by appointing a Power of Attorney for Personal Care and documenting your treatment wishes as part of that document. The law requires your attorney follow any wishes youve provided in your power of attorney or advance directive.
The purpose of a living will is to give exact instructions on what type of medicine or medical care you wish to accept or decline, while an advance directive offers much more information and is capable of being more comprehensive.
There are three main disadvantages to using a living will: Living wills have a limited scope; Living wills rely on physician compliance; Living wills are not always given to health care providers.
I direct that I be given health care treatment to relieve pain or provide comfort even if such treatment might shorten my life, suppress my appetite or my breathing, or be habit forming.
When naming someone as your health care representative, you need to make sure this person knows what your wishes and beliefs are in regards to continuing and withdrawing medical treatment. A Living Will is a document where you give direction to your loved ones should you be in a prolonged vegetative state.
