The easiest shortcut to duplicating an image is the Copy and Paste method where you simply hit Command + C then Command + V (Mac) or Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V (PC). This will create a duplicate of the image within the project in a new layer.
Once selected, Copy and Paste the object by hitting Command + C, then Command + V (Mac) or Ctrl + C, then Ctrl + V (PC), which will duplicate the object in a new layer without the rest of the image.
To copy and paste a selection in Photoshop, create an active selection with your desired selection tool. Then right-click within the selection and choose Layer Via Copy to copy the selections contents and paste it to a new layer. Alternatively, press Command or Control + C.
In the Tools panel, click and hold the Rectangle tool (or whichever Shape tool is showing in your Tools panel at the moment) to view all the shape tools. Select a tool for the shape you want to draw. In the options bar, choose a Fill color and other options for your shape. These can be changed later.
Copy a selection using commands In the Edit workspace, use a selection tool to select the area you want to copy. Do one of the following: Choose Edit Copy to copy the selection to the clipboard. Choose Edit Copy Merged to copy all layers in the selected area to the clipboard.
Select the Move tool , or hold down Ctrl (Win) or Command (Mac) to activate the Move tool. Copy the selection: Hold down Alt (Win) or Option (Mac), and drag the selection. To copy the selection and offset the duplicate by 1 pixel, hold down Alt or Option, and press an arrow key.
Click the first shape layer in the Layers panel. Then, go to the Options bar or Properties panel and click either the fill or stroke box. Click the gear icon and choose Copy Fill/Stroke. Select the other shape layer, click the fill or stroke box, click the gear icon, and choose Paste Fill/Stroke.
