Sampling is the process of converting a signal (e.g., a function of continuous time or space) into a numeric sequence (a function of discrete time or space). The process is also called analog-to-digital conversion, or simply digitizing. (Wikipedia).
Each pixel is a sample of an original image; more samples typically provide more accurate representations of the original. The intensity of each pixel is variable.
It is not legal to copy any material from any website, book, newspaper, e-book, journal, or other document.
Image sampling involves the process of selecting pixels from an original image to create a new one. This new image is referred to as the sample and is used to determine the resolution of an image. One of the ways in which sampling helps define an images resolution is through downsampling and upsampling.
1.7, a sampled image is an array of sampled image values that are usually arranged in a row-column format. Each of the indexed array elements is often called a picture element, or pixel for short.
Hit ⌘ + v (for macOS) or ctrl + v (for other operating systems) to paste images anywhere in this page.
Upsampling is the increasing of the spatial resolution while keeping the 2D representation of an image. It is typically used for zooming in on a small region of an image, and for eliminating the pixelation effect that arises when a low-resolution image is displayed on a relatively large frame.
