The Transfer Legend add-in for Autodesk Revit is a free application that helps you to transfer/copy existing legends from a Revit linked document file to the current document with a few simple clicks.
Rather than clicking or opening the view and using Revits Duplicate with Detailing command, single-click on the drafting view, press Ctrl+C (copy) on your keyboard, then press Ctrl+V (paste). This should create a copy of your drafting view without removing all your view specific element graphic overrides.
