Since the legend is a text object, you can edit it using methods common to all text objects: To open the Legend dialog box, press Ctrl + double-click on the graph legend text or right-click and choose Properties. To enter in-place edit mode double-click.
Alternatively, to add a legend, right-click on the plot, select Legend, then Show Legend, and the legend pops up with the line color of the first curve only.
Copy a Legend View Select a legend view and copy it to the clipboard. Click Modify tab Clipboard panel Paste drop-down, and select one of the following options: Paste from Clipboard: Manually place the legend view onto another sheet view.
While it is not possible to copy an entire legend object and paste it onto a graph, it is possible to copy and paste just the text portion of the legend. Double-click to edit the legend, select a portion (or all) of the text, and copy to the clipboard Then go to the second graph (or stay on the same one), and paste.
Click the chart, and then click the Chart Design tab. Click Add Chart Element Legend. To change the position of the legend, choose Right, Top, Left, or Bottom. To change the format of the legend, click More Legend Options, and then make the format changes that you want.
Method 1 Start Character Map. In the Font box, click the font you want to use. Click the special character that you want to insert, click Select, and then click Copy. In your document, position the insertion point where you want the special character to appear. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
You should, however, write your own legend to any figure not just copy out the legend from the original source and is the figure is either copied or adapted from another source you must cite that source in full in your figure legend.
