Jones is going to demonstrate on dr. Geiger what a scan can do were starting on the bottom here and you just take the scooty done and just go all the way around him out takes lots of images its awesome because we dont have to use the enough compression material really accurate [Music] nice thing we found it when you make a crown with this technique theres usually very little adjustments thats made when a crowd is completed [Music] typically if were just working on one tooth for crown you know you dont have to do the full arch here we just do whatever side of the mouth that tooth is that were working on around here so right now we use it for crowns like we said and we can also print some models and make them mouth guards athletic mouth guards things like that retainers so its the nice part about it

Impression paste is a modified form of zinc oxide eugenol. Other properties are added to make it suitable to use as an impression material. It comes in two tubes: one containing a white zinc oxide mixture and the other containing a red eugenol mixture.
Impression materials are used to copy the teeth and surrounding oral structures by creating a dental impression poured with dental plaster to fabricate a dental cast. This procedure provides a tridimensional and accurate mouth replica, allowing dental work even in the absence of the patient.
The impression should be free of pulls, voids, and air bubbles (Figure 3). The preparations should be clean, crisp, and free of contamination; in addition, the impression material should have flowed 0.5 mm past the margin circumferentially around the tooth (Figure 4 through Figure 7).
Mix Ratio: 13g base to 5.6g catalyst. The addition of more base causes the mix to be thicker and take longer to set. More catalyst produces a thinner mix which sets faster. Plastopaste is the perfect wash for Bosworths Superpaste, a heavy body zinc oxide eugenol impression material.
Dentists have been taught in dental school that alginate is the best and only material to take impressions. As it is cheap, easy to use, and quick dentists from all over the world use this as their go-to material for denture impressions.
Classification of Impression Materials By their composition, the impression materials are divided into three major groups: nonaqueous elastomers, hydrocolloids, and inelastic materials. Elastomers include polysulfide, condensation and addition silicone, and polyether. Hydrocolloids are alginate and agar.
There are three primary types of dental impressions: preliminary, final and bite registration: Preliminary impressions: Preliminary impressions are used for diagnostic purposes, or as the initial step in the process of fabrication (making) of different prostheses, including crowns and dentures.
This article will discuss the 3 most common classifications of impression materials: polyether (PE), vinyl polysiloxane (VPS), and a hybrid material called vinyl polyether siloxane (VPES).
