Formatting objects can be tedious, but keyboard shortcuts can streamline the process. You may already use Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V for hard copying and pasting objects. By adding the Shift key, you can create a soft copy to transfer formatting. First, select the desired object and press Ctrl + Shift + C to copy its format. Then, choose a different object and use Ctrl + Shift + V to apply the copied format. This method is superior to the format painter, as the formatting remains in memory until PowerPoint is closed, allowing you to paste it to any shape, on any slide, in any presentation, at any time, offering greater convenience.

By default, when pasting, Powerpoint uses the formatting of the slide that is pasted into. If you dont change the setting to KEEP SOURCE FORMATTING, then the pasted slide will look different from the original.
