E-books are subject to the same copyright laws as other creative works. There is a copyright for the author from the moment they create the book. Despite the ease of copying and distributing e-books, the increased threat of pirated versions poses other copyright issues that continue to evolve.
Once youve uploaded your eBook, you may want to make changes to the file. KDP compresses your eBook content file into a ZIP file that contains an HTML file of your text content, as well as any included images. You can download and unzip the ZIP file, edit the HTML file, then re-zip and re-upload the book content file.
The PDF and Word documents contain not only the content from the ePub file, but also the images, hyperlinks and organizational structure, including the table of contents. After importing the ePub file, you have the option of updating the content.
If your eBook has a copy/paste allowance, the process begins the same as highlighting! Click (or tap and hold your finger if youre using a touchscreen device), then drag over the words youd like to copy. In the task box that appears, click Copy Text.
Editing an EPUB. An EPUB is essentially a ZIP file containing nested folders with XHTML text, images, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), embedded fonts, and metadata files. Almost anyone can edit EPUB files with the help of an eBook editing tool, although some familiarity with hypertext markup language (HTML) is helpful.
To copy, highlight the text you wish to copy and press Ctrl + C.
FAQ on How to Copy Text That Cannot be Copied Use a PDF editor. A PDF editor will let you select the text you want to copy and then copy it normally. Use a screen capture tool. A screen capture tool like Snagit will let you take a screenshot of the PDF document and then you can copy the text from the image. Use OCR.
You can make copies for your personal use on an unlimited number of devices. You may not give your ePub to other people or put the files on servers where others can read or access this content. You may not edit ePub files, but you may view or print them for personal use as you see fit.
Choose EPUB, choose any additional options for that format, then tap Export. Share or save the exported file: To share the book, choose how you want to send your file, like with Mail or Messages, then send the file. To save the file on your device or to iCloud Drive, choose Save to Files, then choose a location.
In some cases, you can copy, paste and print; however the allowable amount varies by publisher. Most of the e-books in EBSCO and eBook Central have a copy, paste and print allowance.
