thereamp;#39;s a joke that you sometimes see and it looks like this there are kinds of people that understand binary numbers and the joke is that thatamp;#39;s not 10 thatamp;#39;s binary for two so the binary number system uses numbers zero and one and thatamp;#39;s it the decimal system uses numbers zero one two three four five six seven eight nine because we have zero one two three four five six seven eight nine fingers I think thatamp;#39;s why right so whatamp;#39;s so great about binary well binary you could represent what the light bulb right because I could say that light is on or that light is off so that which makes it so great for computers Iamp;#39;m going to show you in a later video how to read binary numbers and how to transfer from decimal to binary

The syntax for declaring Binary variable is binary(n) , where n defines the size in bytes. Note that size is in bytes and not number of characters. For Example, when we declare as binary(10) , The column will occupy 10 bytes of storage. The value of n can be from 1 to 8000 bytes.
While UUIDs are often sometimes as 36-character strings, they can also be represented in their native binary format as well. If converted to a binary value, you can store it in a BINARY(16) column, which reduces the storage requirements per value down to 16 bytes.
Binary(n) variables store n bytes of fixed-size binary data. These fields may store a maximum of 8,000 bytes. Varbinary(n) variables store variable-length binary data of approximately n bytes. They may store a maximum of 8,000 bytes. Varbinary(max) variables store variable-length binary data of approximately n bytes.
16 in binary is 10000. Unlike the decimal number system where we use the digits 0 to 9 to represent a number, in a binary system, we use only 2 digits that are 0 and 1 (bits). We have used 5 bits to represent 16 in binary.
It means to it from files. Binaries = setup files. Basically there are two types of files: text and binary. Here this is really a reference to the application/installation of SQL Server but the term binary applies more broadly than just software executables and libraries.
BINARY(16) is therefore the most suitable MySQL data type. No character set, no collation, just 16 bytes. Furthermore, if GUID type is used for primary key, the gain is even greater, as in InnoDB the primary key value is copied into all secondary index values.
Unlike VARCHAR, the BINARY data type has no notion of Unicode characters, so the length is always measured in terms of bytes. BINARY values are limited to 8 MB so that they fit within 16 MB when converted to hexadecimal strings, e.g. via TOCHAR(, HEX) .
