Method 1: Using the Keep Source Formatting option Right-click in the Word document where you want to paste the code, and select the Paste Options button. In the Paste Options menu, select the Keep Source Formatting option. Click OK to paste the code.
Tip: You can also highlight your entire document by placing your mouse cursor in the left margin and then quickly clicking the left mouse button three times in a row. Press Ctrl + C to copy the entire highlighted selection. Note: Keep in mind that this will highlight everything in your document.
To change the default back, select File Options Advanced Cut, copy, and paste, click the Pasting from other programs down arrow and select Keep Source Formatting in the list, and then click OK.
Tip: Use Alt+Ctrl+C to copy a format, and Alt+Ctrl+Vto paste a format.
Keyboard shortcuts To apply the formatting you copied to a different text selection: Press Ctrl + Alt + v (Windows or Chrome OS) or ⌘ + Option + v (Mac).
Control the formatting when you paste text Go to File Options Advanced. Under Cut, copy, and paste, select the down arrow for the setting to change. Pasting within the same document When you paste content into the same document from which you copied the content. Each setting has options you can set: Select OK.
And in Office, you can click on the little Paste Options button that appears next to the pasted text and hit Match Destination Formatting (which will still keep bold and italics) or Keep Text Onlyand you can set one of those as the default way to paste.
PC: Ctrl + c for Copy, Ctrl + x for Cut, and Ctrl + v for Paste.
