The ideal way to add chapters to your LaTeX document while writing a book is by creating a separate file for each chapter. These individual chapter files do not need a preamble. All you need to add at the beginning of each chapter file is the name of the chapter using the \chapter{..} command.
The simplest package to use is sectsty (contraction of section style), which allows us to perform the centering of the chapters title with one single command, \chapterfont{\centering}. This obtains the expected result.

Usually, \section is the top-level document command in most documents. However, in reports or books, and similar long documents, this would be \chapter or \part .
Ideally, a well-structured chapter includes the following elements: A title or heading. An interesting introduction. Main body informative paragraphs. A summary of the chapter. Smooth transition to the next chapter.
Centering. We center text or images using \begin{center} and \end{center}. Just put \begin{center} when you want to start centering, and \end{center} when you want to stop centering.
Creating chapters and subheadings New chapters are also put onto a new page. Remember that un-numbered chapters are created using \chapter*{Chapter Name} . These do need to manually added to the Contents and PDF bookmarks. Activity - Set up your chapters but not the subheadings.
