To post XML to the server, you need to make an HTTP POST request, include the XML data in the body of the POST request message, and set the correct MIME type for the XML using the Content-Type: application/xml HTML header.
The body comprises a top-level XML element that contains all the message data. The body contains complex XML markup, which translates to many syntax element types in the parsed tree. Each syntax element type is introduced here, with a series of example XML fragments.
Unicode code points in the following code point ranges are always valid in XML 1.1 documents: U+0001U+D7FF, U+E000U+FFFD: this includes most C0 and C1 control characters, but excludes some (not all) non-characters in the BMP (surrogates, U+FFFE and U+FFFF are forbidden);
We do this by directly referencing the Unicode code point in decimal or hexadecimal form. These are standard XML entities meaning that theyre prefixed with an character and suffixed with a ; character. Decimal codepoints are then prefixed with a # character and hexadecimal ones with #x.
Inserting Unicode characters To insert a Unicode character, type the character code, press ALT, and then press X. For example, to type a dollar symbol ($), type 0024, press ALT, and then press X. For more Unicode character codes, see Unicode character code charts by script.
Characters are denoted using the notation used in the Unicode Standard, that is, an optional U+ followed by their hexadecimal number, using at least 4 digits, such as U+1234 or U+10FFFD. In XML or HTML this could be expressed as #x1234; or #x10FFFD;.
The most explicit way to represent a null value in XML is to include an empty tag set for the data item. Unsupported methods for passing Null or empty values: Another way to represent a null value would be to not iinclude the tags for that item.
