i hate to tell you this but youre probably doing passwords wrong at least thats what the national institute of standards says in the document they produced a few years ago with password guidance that basically says what weve been doing as an organization with password strength policies is making security worse not better so the old rules lets take a look at those it was that there was a formula that you needed to follow mixture of upper and lower case characters numbers special characters things like that and what that does in combination with an expiration date is make it so that users end up with passwords they cant remember and if they cant remember them then they have to write them down and if we make them change them a lot then theyve really got to write them down so instead of the old rules of a formula and expiration in fact the new guidance is that we should look at at length length is strength when it comes to passwords the longer your password the harder its going to

4 levels of password security Welcome to the age of reckoning. Short history. Level 1: plain-text and face-palms. Level 2: hashing and encrypting. Level 3: salting and seasoning. Level 4: the master of all passwords. Bonus round: additional measures.
Password protection is a security process that protects information accessible via computers that needs to be protected from certain users. Password protection allows only those with an authorized password to gain access to certain information.
Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. Use at least one uppercase letter. Use a different password for each of your accounts. Use uncommon, unusual words.
For your information, the three level authentication is the combination of three existing scheme which is text-based password, pattern lock password/graphical and one time password to form a better protection. In this, the traditional method used is text- based password.
The three different levels used in the 3-level password authentication scheme are image ordering, color pixels and the one-time password (OTP).
Level 4: the master of all passwords In standard security management, passwords (or their hashes) are stored in a secure database, in a server, or a cloud. Master password is not stored anywhere. Its an algorithm that generates a 64-byte master key, which is used in access authorization.
Password Encryption From weakest to strongest, they include clear text, Vigenere encryption, and MD5 hash algorithm. Clear-text passwords are represented in human-readable format. Both the Vigenere and MD5 encryption methods obscure passwords, but each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
