Hi, this is Gary with MacMost.com. Today let me show you how to password protect and encrypt documents. MacMost is brought to you thanks to a great group of more than 900 supporters. Go to MacMost.com/patreon. There you can read more about the Patreon Campaign. Join us and get exclusive content and course discounts. So Im often asked how you can password protect a document on your Mac. So Im going to show you a few methods. But first let me tell you why its probably not necessary. Everybody that uses a Mac should have their own user account and should have it password protected. You should be the only one that has the password to your account. Now as long as you have that setup and you dont leave it unlocked and lying around for other people to access then all of your files are really password protected. Nobody can get into your account so nobody could see any of your files. If you have File Vault turned on then everything is encrypted so even if so

Even if you use a password manager, its still a good idea to have a password book. Maybe you dont want to keep all your passwords in your password manager; perhaps you keep the critical passwords locally in your password book.
Writing down your passwords is never a good idea, be it in a password book, on a free printable password keeper, or on a good old sticky note. Its a recipe for disaster and heres why: Paper can be taken.
Writing them down on paper Users may believe that writing passwords down on paper and storing them in their office or on sticky notes is secure, but this method is actually risky. Papers can get lost or even fall into the hands of cybercriminals, giving them immediate access to your raw, unencrypted login information.
There is no better way to keep your passwords safe than to use a password manager, like Bitwarden. A good password manager should do more than store passwords, such as generate strong passwords and monitor data bdocHubes for compromised passwords.
Protect a document with a password Go to File Info Protect Document Encrypt with Password. Type a password, then type it again to confirm it. Save the file to make sure the password takes effect.
How to password protect a folder Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder you want to password-protect. Right-click on the folder. Select Properties from the menu. Click the Advanced button, then select Encrypt content to secure data. Double-click the folder to ensure you can access it.
Password-protecting your flipbook Click on the privacy-settings icon below the publication name. Click on Privacy Settings in the small pop-up. This will bring up another popup with all the privacy options. In the privacy settings popup, select Password and type a suitable password. Click Apply.
Passwords written down on a sticky sheet or kept in a notebook are a relatively safe way to manage passwords. There is little chance the cybercriminal would try to access your home and rob your password book. Of course, the risk increases if you carry the notebook around in public.
