Its going to have company information at the top and then some sample text that you can easily replace with who its to, the body of the text, things like that. You can easily create a template for this and add it to the templates that appear when you create a new document in Pages. Im using Pages version 8.0 for this. Im going to start off by choosing the blank document template. I want to be able to view the layout here. So Im going to go to View and then choose Show Layouts. Letter Numbering Convention One may simply put the page number at the top-center of the page, while others may list the addressee at the top-left, the page number at the top-center and the date on the top-right.
Tips for Formatting Your Letter Spacing: Single space your letter and leave a space between each paragraph. Use one-inch margins and align your text to the left.2 Leave an extra space after the salutation, before the closing, and before and after your handwritten signature in a printed letter.
The contents of a header or footer is displayed on every page of your letter. It is also possible to set the Header and Footer of the first page so that it is different to that of following pages. Headers and Footers are commonly used for page numbering and confidentiality notices.
Follow a formal letter format when writing formal letters 1) Include your name and contact information. 2) Include the recipients name and address. 3) Include the date. 4) Use the right salutation. 5) Create the body of your formal letter. 6) Close the letter with a formal sign-off. 7) Add your signature.
Add basic page numbering to your document or remove your page numbers. Select Insert Page Number. Select where you want the page number to appear. Select the style you like and Word automatically numbers each page for you.
In some cases, numbering the different paragraphs is recommended for formal letter writing, to make it easier for the reader to understand whats being said.
To Format a Multiple Page Letter Properly Go down three spaces or so from the page header on page two (or any other continuation sheet) and then continue your letter from the previous page. Try to leave at least two lines on the first page if you must divide a paragraph between pages.
Spacing. Letters should be single-spaced between sentences in order to maximize space on the page. Include four line breaks between the letters closing sentence or paragraph and your printed name to leave space for your signature. Font.
Parts of a Business Letter The Heading. The heading contains the return address with the date on the last line. Recipients Address. This is the address you are sending your letter to. The Salutation. The Body. The Complimentary Close. The Signature Line. Enclosures.
Second Pages If a letter extends on to a second, third, etc. page, the second and following pages have a one inch top margin and a header at the top that is left-aligned. That header includes the name of the person receiving the letter, the date, and the page number (in that order, on separate lines).
