Hi, this is Gary with MacMost.com. On todays episode lets look at a new feature in Pages that allows you to rearrange things in your document using Sections. So Apple recently released new versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. There are a lot of small new features in these. Im going to look at one today. Im using Pages version 5.6 and Im just going to create a new blank document. In the past I could certainly look at the page thumbnails here on the left and see what pages Ive done but I couldnt really rearrange them. They are basically a way for me to jump from page to page. Now, with Pages 5.6, I can actually rearrange them in a way that you might do say if you were writing a story and you want to have sections that you rearrange or perhaps a script or perhaps notes for class. Things like that and you kind of want to rearrange sheets of paper. You can do that using Sections. So lets start off by just creating a bunch of pages that may have some notes on them. Organizing pages in a PDF In the top navigation bar, click Edit Organize Pages. Do one of the following to select the files that you want to organize and then click Continue: Choose files from the Recent or Documents list. Add files from your computer or drag-and-drop the files onto the highlighted area.
Using the Organize Pages tool, you can Rearrange, Extract, Insert, Replace and Split PDF pages. To begin, open the file that you wish to alter. Click the Tools menu and then the Organize Pages tool. Rearranging Pages. To rearrange pages, simply drag the pages to the order desired.
Select the PDF file you want to reorganize. Sign in after Acrobat uploads the file. Select the page thumbnails you want to move, and drag and drop the selected pages into a new location. When youre ready, tap Save and give your PDF a new file name to save it online to docHub Document Cloud.
Right-click an empty space in the toolbar and choose Customize Quick Tools. In the Customize Quick Tools dialog box, do any of the following: To add a tool, select it in the left pane and click the Up Arrow icon. To remove a tool, select its icon and click the Delete icon.
Open the PDF in Acrobat, and then choose Tools Organize Pages or choose Organize Pages from the right pane. The Organize Pages toolset is displayed in the secondary toolbar.
Its possible that these PDF files are PDF/A compliant -- you can check this by opening the Standards Navigation panel. If so, then youll need to turn off the following preference before you can rearrange pages: Edit Preferences Documents Categories and select Never from the View documents in PDF/A mode.
Open the PDF in Acrobat, and then choose Tools Organize Pages or choose Organize Pages from the right pane. The Organize Pages toolset is displayed in the secondary toolbar.
Method 1: Change Document Permissions If you know the permissions password, you can change the document permissions. Go to Document Properties (File - Document Properties), select Security and click Edit button, make sure Allow Document Assembly is checked. Save the document and try to re-arrange document again.
