Hi, this is Gary with MacMost.com. Today lets take a look at the basics of sorting in Numbers. MacMost is brought to you thanks to a great group of more than 750 supporters. Pretty basic information. Just last name, first name, two columns of dates and two columns of numbers here. Now if I want to sort by a column its pretty simple to do. All I need to do is click anywhere in the table so the table is the one selected. Then if I move my cursor over the top here you could see for each column I have this little arrow here and if I click on it I get some quick actions. One of those quick actions is to Sort. As a matter of fact theres two of them. Sort Ascending and Sort Descending. So one thing I might want to do is sort by last name ascending and I can select that and it resorts the whole table now with la

Sort data in a column Tap the table, then tap the letter above the column with the data you want to sort by. Tap. at the bottom of the screen, then tap an option: Sort Ascending: Sorts the table rows in alphabetical order (A to Z) or by increasing numerical values based on the data in the selected column.
Click the Home tab on the Ribbon, and locate the Sort Filter group. Sort the field by selecting the Ascending or Descending command. The table will now be sorted by the selected field. To save the new sort, click the Save command on the Quick Access Toolbar.
Move rows: Click and hold the numbered bars for the rows so the rows appear to lift off the table, then drag above or below another row.
To put numbers in order, place them from lowest (first) to highest (last). This is called Ascending Order. Think of ascending a mountain.
1) Select your column and then click the arrow next to the header. 2) Choose either Sort Ascending or Sort Descending. Youll immediately see the data in your table shift per the sort order for that column. Remember, you can use the Edit Undo action in the menu bar to undo the sort if its not what you expected.
How to sort in Excel? Select a single cell in the column you want to sort. On the Data tab, in the Sort Filter group, click. to perform an ascending sort (from A to Z, or smallest number to largest). Click. to perform a descending sort (from Z to A, or largest number to smallest).
