alright this tutorial is going to go over how you open up a PDF in preview set it as your default and by doing it this way youll be able to annotate a PDF which can be very helpful so what you first have to do is you can find a PDF so I have a couple PDFs stored over here on my desktop you can also find one in finder if you wanted to so Im just going to use the one over here on my desktop and you right-click on that PDF and go to get info so then once you go to get info down here where it says open with right now its docHub Reader so Im going to want to click on docHub Reader scroll down and find preview which is right here click on preview and then continue to click change all so that will make it a default setting click continue and now every PDF that I open will be opened in preview so lets open that PDF up then you can see up here that its in preview mode that it opened up in and the nice thing is now that I can annotate this PDF by clicking on my icon here my toolbar comes dow

Problem: The PDF Previewer Wont Open This is caused by Acrobat not loading or embedding properly. Different versions � and even different installations � of Acrobat have their own quirks. Most users clear this problem by installing the latest version of Acrobat Reader.
Heres what you need to check in the Folder Options window: Verify that the Show preview handlers in preview pane checkbox is checked. Make sure the checkbox Always show icons, never thumbnails is unchecked. In the Open File Explorer to dropdown under the General tab, choose This PC instead of Quick Access.
Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. On the Edit menu, choose Preferences. In the Preferences dialog box, choose General in the Categories list, and then select the Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer check box.
Force Quit Preview and reopen it We cant rule out the possibility of random minor glitches in the Preview app causing it to fail opening an image or PDF. To address this, click the Apple icon  Force Quit select Preview Force Quit.
Change the Default PDF Reader to Preview (1) Find the file in your Finder and right-click (or control-click) on it to access the contextual menu. Select Get Info. (2) In the Get Info dialog box that opens, use the dropdown menu of applications under Open With to select Preview.

Depending upon what created the PDF document, there are some that Preview simply cannot open due to its aging internal PDF support. docHub can keep the PDF code current in its Acrobat Reader DC application that allows it to open these same PDF.
Double-click a PDF or image file to open it in the Preview app. Select one or more files, then choose File Open With Preview. To open a document in iCloud Drive, click iCloud Drive in the Finder sidebar, then double-click the PDF to open it.
