hey everybody every day it seems someone discovers that verse 21 is not in most modern translations of Matthew chapter 17. it just Skips from verse 20 to verse 22. for some reason this is always the verse that everybody discovers this on even though there are over a dozen other similar verses that are absent from most contemporary translations of the Bible and with all of the end times nonsense thatamp;#39;s being proliferated right now it seems to be more of a concern to a lot of people but there is a perfectly reasonable and rational explanation for why most contemporary Bibles just skip from verse 20 to 22 and that explanation is that we know it was not what the author originally wrote we have enough manuscripts that are ancient enough that we can tell it was something that was added later to the text in order to harmonize that story with the same story in Mark chapter 9. 4 for instance letamp;#39;s take a look at codex vaticanus this is one of our earliest and most reliable textu

The sixteen omitted verses Matthew 17:21. Matthew 18:11. Matthew 23:14. Mark 7:16. Mark 9:44 and 9:46. Mark 11:26. Mark 15:28. Luke 17:36.
Why are certain verses not included in the Christian Standard Bible? Bible translators have access to more scholarship about the ancient manuscripts than was available at the time of older English translations (for example, the King James Version, published in 1611).
If you want to look for yourself, here are those 16 missing verses. Mathew 23:14, Matthew 17:21, Matthew 18:11. Mark 7:16, Mark 9:44, Mark 9:46, Mark 11:26, Mark 15:28. Luke 17:36. John 5:4. Acts 8:37, Acts 15:34, Acts 24:7, Acts 28:29. Romans 16:24.
The NKJV does not omit hun- dreds of verses, phrases and words as is done in these other versions. It is not a loose translation or a paraphrase.
Answer: Acts 8:37 is not included in many Bible translations because it is not found in the oldest and best translations of Acts. There is no attempt to cover it up, as you can find it (with an explanation) in the footnotes of most Bibles.
Let me repeat that: There are NO missing verses in the NIV. Unfortunately the authors of the NIV decided to remove certain verses from the main Biblical text because the oldest and most reliable manuscripts do not have them. But all the verses that have been taken out are found in the footnotes.
Matthew 17:21 Reason: The verse closely resembles Mark 9:29, but it is lacking in Matthew in א (original handwriting), B, , some Italic, Syriac, Coptic and Ethiopic manuscripts.
I then became aware that whole verses had been omitted from the NIV Bible. If you have an NIV look up these verses; John 5:4, Mathew 23:14, Mathew 17:21, Mathew 18:11, Mark 7:16, Mark 9:44, Mark 9:46, Mark 11:26, Mark 15:28, Luke 17:36, John 5:4, Acts 8:37, Acts 15:34, Acts 24:7, Acts 28:29, Romans 16:24.
