whatamp;#39;s up YouTube pastor Matt here wanted to pick up on a conversation that I started the other day regarding the missing verses from the ESV so go check out that video if you havenamp;#39;t watched it obviously on a topic like that I kick the hornetamp;#39;s nest a little bit because it summons all of the KJV only camp to come to the battle and do some do some warfare in the comments but that notwithstanding I also wanted to say a word of comfort to those of you who might have been disconcerted because you didnamp;#39;t know that maybe this issue was there in some of the modern translations so should we be concerned that this somehow affects our doctrine of the inspiration infallibility and inerrancy of Scripture I donamp;#39;t think so my confidence in fact I donamp;#39;t think so at all my confidence is very high in the Word of God because when we claim to believe the inspired inerrant infallible Scriptures weamp;#39;re talking of course about the autographs the work o

Why are certain verses not included in the Christian Standard Bible? Bible translators have access to more scholarship about the ancient manuscripts than was available at the time of older English translations (for example, the King James Version, published in 1611).
If you want to look for yourself, here are those 16 missing verses. Mathew 23:14, Matthew 17:21, Matthew 18:11. Mark 7:16, Mark 9:44, Mark 9:46, Mark 11:26, Mark 15:28. Luke 17:36. John 5:4. Acts 8:37, Acts 15:34, Acts 24:7, Acts 28:29. Romans 16:24.
The sixteen omitted verses Matthew 17:21. Matthew 18:11. Matthew 23:14. Mark 7:16. Mark 9:44 and 9:46. Mark 11:26. Mark 15:28. Luke 17:36.
Verse 37 is considered by many modern versionists to be a minority reading since it is not found in the majority of remaining Greek texts, nor in Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, A or C.
Acts 8:37 is missing from most modern translations, not just the NIV. Its also absent in the ESV and the CSB and is bracketed as not original in the NASB. Short answer: Its not in the earliest and best Greek manuscripts of Acts and was probably added by a scribe around 500600 AD.
Answer: Acts 8:37 is not included in many Bible translations because it is not found in the oldest and best translations of Acts. There is no attempt to cover it up, as you can find it (with an explanation) in the footnotes of most Bibles.
The differences you find, or the missing verses, are simply the result of using different manuscripts.
This verse is not seen in the oldest and most trustworthy manuscripts of the book of Acts. Most modern translations include it in brackets, or with a note indicating as much. The sentence doesnt express anything contrary to the rest of Scripture, but most likely was not part of Lukes original writing.
