People with expressive aphasia may have some of the following signs and symptoms: slow and halting speech with difficulty constructing a sentence. struggling to get certain words out such as the names of objects, places or people. only using basic nouns and verbs for example, want drink or go town today
If your child might have a problem, its important to see a speech-language pathologist (SLP) right away. You can find a speech-language pathologist on your own, or ask your health care provider to refer you to one. The SLP (or speech therapist) will check your childs speech and language skills.
Their sentences include 4 or more words, and their vocabulary continues to grow. Speech should be completely understandable, although there may still be some developmental sound errors (like lisping) and stuttering, particularly among boys.
Some children still have difficulties with language by the time they start preschool or school. If these difficulties cant be explained by other things like autism or hearing loss, it might be developmental language disorder.
The most common causes of speech delay include: Hearing loss. Slow development. Intellectual disability.
At around 2 years, your toddler will start to put 2-3 words together for example, red apple or I go up. By 3 years, theyll be able to use sentences with 3 or more words for example, Mummy get in car or Me go too. Youll start to hear grammar and more structured sentences.
A child with aphasia may struggle with verbal expression, they may know what it is they want to say but find it difficult to find the right words or to say the words in an order that is correct or understood by others.
If they have a hearing problem that could be the reason. If they do not then I suggest just repeating words like Hello keep repeating and see if they soon repeat back. Or go to some language therapy and see what they say. Every child is different, some children take more time than others to learn how to speak.
