Using the -x option, you can exclude specific files from being included in the zip archive. This is useful when you want to zip all files in a directory but want to exclude certain unwanted files. (Verbose mode):
zip Command Options -r: Recursively include all files and subdirectories in the specified directories. -q: Quiet mode; suppresses output messages. -9: Set the compression level to maximum. -e: Encrypt the archive with a password.
-x files --exclude files Explicitly exclude the specified files, as in: zip -r foo foo -x \*.o which will include the contents of foo in foo. zip while exclud‐ ing all the files that end in .o. The backslash avoids the shell filename substitution, so that the name matching is per‐ formed by zip at all directory levels.
