Hello everyone and welcome back to Learning English with Atena. You may have come across questions such as why I sometimes delete did in questions, when to use a progressive tense when you have pain in your body, and what is the difference between it dawned on me and it grew on me. Today I would like to answer these questions. Letamp;#39;s start with the first question. The first question is, for example, Lucy said, you knew my father? is that an idiom? if not when can you omit did in a question? great question. okay so this, you knew my father? is actually a confirmation question, so when we are checking our own understanding we use these kinds of patterns, so the question that youamp;#39;re asking about is a question like did you know my Father? which is a simple yes or no question but in this case, you knew my father? is saying I believe this is true I am asking you this question to confirm my understanding of this so thatamp;#39;s why we dropped that did you know pattern and cha

Can a candidate skip questions? No. Candidates have to answer a question in order to move onto the next question.
This means the lowest SAT score you can get is a 400, while the highest SAT score possible is a 1600. But how does the College Board calculate these scores exactly? First, the College Board looks at your raw scores, that is, the number of questions you answered correctly. Youll get 1 point for each correct answer.
Occasionally, an SAT will allow you to get one wrong or to skip one as you can see on Tests 1, 3 and 5 for the Reading section, or Test 5 for the Writing section. However, as with Math, that is not the norm. If youre aiming for 1600, prepare to get zero wrong in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.
More often than not, a 1600 can only be achieved by answering every single question correctly. A 1600 is only achieved by around 300 test takers per year and makes you eligible and highly competitive for admission at every college.
As you know, the SAT penalizes an incorrect response with a one-quarter-point deduction. Your raw score is therefore computed as follows: +1 point for each correct response. +0 points for each omitted (left blank) response. -1/4 point for each incorrect response.
Generally speaking, you can miss 1-2 questions on each section and still get a perfect 1600. How many questions you can miss on each section and still hit your target score will depend on your exams difficulty level and how raw scores convert into scaled scores for that particular test.
Balancing your SAT score For instance, you need at least 55 out of 58 questions correct in the Maths section, 41 out of 44 in the Writing Language section, and 48 out of 52 in the Reading section to score a 1500+ on your SAT.
That conversion chart is different every test date and scaled to other students who took the test. This means there could potentially be a bit of wiggle room, allowing you to miss a few questions and still get a perfect 1600.
