It is not possible to change the name of an AMI image. Once the name is set, it cannot be changed. You have 2 possible resolutions: Create the AMI image again, using a different name.
The Ami Alias is a similar ID to the AMI ID , but its easier to use in automation. An AMI alias has the form aws/service/marketplace/prod- / , for example, aws/service/marketplace/prod-1234example5678/12.2 .
To update an AMI, launch an instance and update its software. For that instance to have access to the AWS services that it needs, create an AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) role with the correct permissions policies attached.
For Amazon Linux 2 or the Amazon Linux AMI, the username is ec2-user. For a Centos AMI, the username is centos. For a Debian AMI, the username is admin or root. For a Fedora AMI, the username is ec2-user or fedora.
Retrieve your initial administrator password using the Amazon EC2 console Open the Amazon EC2 console, and then choose Instances. Select the check box for the instance, and then expand the Actions dropdown list. Choose Browse, select your key pair file, and then choose Open. Choose Decrypt Password.
