You can (as suggested in the manpage) put your list into a file, rather than using positional parameters for the list: -x files --exclude files Explicitly exclude the specified files, as in: zip -r foo foo -x \*.o which will include the contents of foo in foo. zip while exclud‐ ing all the files that end in .o.
Using the -x option, you can exclude specific files from being included in the zip archive. This is useful when you want to zip all files in a directory but want to exclude certain unwanted files. (Verbose mode):
To permanently remove a directory in Linux, use either the rmdir or rm command. The rmdir or rm -d command is for removing empty directories, while the rm -r command deletes non-empty directories. Before removing a directory, you must know its name.
How to Extract Files from a Zipped (Compressed) Folder Right-click the zipped folder saved to your computer. Choose Extract All (an extraction wizard will begin). Click [Next ]. Click [Browse] and navigate to where you would like to save the files. Click [Next ]. Click [Finish].
Suppress the Output of the unzip Command By default, unzip prints the names of all the files its extracting and a summary when the extraction is completed. Use the -q switch to suppress the printing of these messages.

Linux Tar Zip Exclude Directory The --exclude flag must come before the source directory. Some linux distributions allow for --exclude /path/to/excluded/ and some require = such as --exclude=/path/to/excluded .
