In quantum physics, the spinorbit interaction (also called spinorbit effect or spinorbit coupling) is a relativistic interaction of a particles spin with its motion inside a potential.
The peaks of the O 1s XPS spectrum are deconvoluted from each other. The first peak, at 530.4 eV, shows the Zn-O (Zinc-oxygen) bond, the other peak, at 531.5 eV, shows vacant position of oxygen, while the 3rd peak, at 532.7 eV, shows O 2 [36] .
Because XPS is a surface technique, there is a limited amount of organic information XPS can provide. XPS is limited to measurements of elements having atomic numbers of 3 or greater, making it unable to detect hydrogen or helium. XPS spectra also take a long time to obtain.
Mg and Al provide dominant resonance in the X-Ray spectrum and its a monochromatic X-Ray source that provides good resolution of photoelectric peaks in XPS spectrum. The choice of anode affects background level, peak intensity, number of peaks in the investigated range and resolution of peaks.
Other Peaks in XPS Spectra The spectrum in Figure 1 includes a sequence of peaks labelled O KLL. These peaks represent the energy of the electrons ejected from the atoms due to the filling of the O 1s state (K shell) by an electron from the L shell coupled with the ejection of an electron from an L shell.
K-Alpha is a fully integrated and compact X-ray photoelectron spectrometer that has a high throughput and provides the highest available performance/cost capability with a small footprint.
The pseudo-Voigt profile (or pseudo-Voigt function) is an approximation of the Voigt profile V(x) using a linear combinationof a Gaussian curve G(x) and a Lorentzian curve L(x) instead of their convolution. The pseudo-Voigt function is often used for calculations of experimental spectral line shapes.
When quantifying XPS spectra, Relative Sensitivity Factors (RSF) are used to scale the measured peak areas so that variations in the peak areas are representative of the amount of material in the sample surface.
