When a negotiable instrument has been indorsed in blank, any holder may, without signing his own name, convert the blank indorsement into an indorsement in full by writing above the indorsers signature a direction to pay the amount to or to the order of himself or some other person; and the holder does not thereby

Unlike a blank endorsement, where the payees signature is the only requirement, a special endorsement includes additional information, such as the name of the person or entity to whom the check is being transferred.
13[(1) If the endorser signs his name only, the endorsement is said to be in blank, and if he adds a direction to pay the amount mentioned in the instrument to, or to the order of, a specified person, the endorsement is said to be in full, and the person so specified is called the endorsee of the instrument.
