To show the gridlines, in Excel, PowerPoint, or Word, click the View tab, and then check the Gridlines box. To hide the gridlines, clear the Gridlines check box.
You will notice several vertical and horizontal lines that intersect. The lines are dotted and faded so as to not distract when creating your slide. They are much like the light blue grids that graphic artists use when they create and lay out their art.
Right click the menu and choose Bullet. Then choose None when the list of bullet point options appear. Your bullet points should be removed now. This also explains how you can change the bullet list icon easily and the bullet point styles in PowerPoint.

I finally figured out how to do this. Select the graphic, go to Arrange in the Drawing section, ungroup. Do it again. When the graphic cant be ungrouped any longer, I was able to remove the bullets.
The correct answer is Placeholders. In PowerPoint, the dotted areas in an empty slide are called Placeholders. The layout is simply a collection of one or more placeholders, which set aside an area of the slide to hold information.
All the content layouts in PowerPoint include bulleted-list formatting. To remove the bullets or add them, you select the content placeholder and click Bullets on the HOME tab. To add a new item and drop down another level, press Enter, and click Increase List Level. Or, press Enter+Tab.
