Since I made such a stink about it, lets start with this rule: Use a comma between items in a series or list. Use a comma between two independent clauses separated by a conjunction. Use a comma between two adjectives preceding a noun. Your Mission.
Selecting the Use 1000 separator option will format your numbers to include a character after every three digits, known as a thousands separator.
Use the Keyboard Shortcuts Select the cell(s) you want to apply formatting to. Press the keyboard shortcut by pressing and holding the keys in the following order: Ctrl + Shift + A (or the key you designate in the setup) The cell formatting will be applied. You can use the Ctrl+Z or the Undo button to undo.
Ctrl+Shift+1 [!] is the shortcut to apply the standard Number format. The Number format has a separator for thousands, millions, etc. and two decimal places. The characters used for the separator will depend on your locale settings in Windows.
Semicolons used to replace commas Use a semicolon to replace a comma when you use a coordinating conjunction to link independent clauses that already contain commas.
In some instances, the comma must be removed to retain the meaning and logic of the field value. For example, the year 2000 and the Redlands, California zip code, 92375 must be displayed without a comma. The image below shows the values in the Yearfounded field with a thousand separator (comma).
Remove comma from Text String Select the dataset. Click the Home tab. In the Editing group, click on the Find Replace option. Click on Replace. This will open the Find and Replace dialog box. In the Find what: field, enter , (a comma) Leave the Replace with: field empty. Click on Replace All button.
