Hi, Im Benio from GRH Sojusz. In this episode well talk about gasmasks used by the Polish Peoples Republic Armed Forces. First Polish-manufactured gasmask issued to Polish Army post 1945 was SzM-41. The pattern designation is not a typical polish wzr, since the mask was licensed from the USSR. Soviet Army described this type of mask as a shlyem maska - a hood-type mask. The hood is clearly visible here - it provides extra protection and serves as a suspension system. It was produced from 1952 to around 1958. There were some modifications along the way. For example, initially the metal rings had golden colour. A bourgeoise colour, one can say. However, this was changed quite early. This is the most popular version. Its fairly simple in design.
