Last summer, seniors age 75 and over saw an automatic 10-per-cent increase of their OAS pension as of July 2022. This represented the first permanent increase to the OAS pension since 1973.
CPP and QPP have sharing agreements with each other and offer similar benefits at retirement. The benefit amount you will be paid will take into consideration all contributions made to both plans. However, you do not have to apply to both plans.
We are pleased to announce that the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2023 is 6.3% for retired members who retired from the PSPP and their survivors.
Between 2022 and 2023, the Old Age Security increase was about 7%. Currently, the Consumer Price Index in Canada is somewhere between 5% and 6%. For this reason, OAS will probably increase by this same rate in 2023.
The rate of the annual indexation for 2023 is 6.3%. In most cases, if you retired before 2022, the full indexation rate will be applied to your pension. If you retired during 2022, youll receive a prorated portion of the rate based on the number of full calendar months remaining in 2022.
In 2023, the contribution rate for Qubec Pension Plan is 2.00%. That rate is split equally between the employer and the employee. Those contributions will gradually increase from 2019 to 2025. Contributions are collected by Revenu Qubec and managed by the Caisse de dpt et placement du Qubec.
