Signers with physical impairments may struggle to sign documents, but there are alternatives for notarization. One option is the power of attorney, where a representative signer can sign on behalf of the disabled person. This representative does not need to be a licensed attorney. The notary will verify the representative signer's identity and include their name in the notary certificate. The representative signer cannot swear an oath in the disabled person's name in most cases.
