Negations of many of these relations can be formed by just putting \not before the symbol, or by slipping an n between the \ and the word.
In math mode, - is a minus. In text mode, - is a dash, -- a wider dash, and --- an even more wider dash. Just make sure, that you are in math mode, when you would like to write a minus.
Inequality symbols Less than: Greater than: Less than or equal to: \le. Greater than or equal to: \ge. Not equal to: \neq.
If you use LaTeX, know that LaTeX assumes that a minus inside math-mode means negative (and thus it automatically uses an en-dash). If you use text-mode, you can either switch your negative number into math mode or use two dashes: not -5 is negative, but $-5$ is negative or --5 is negative.
The symbol used to represent the less than inequality is . Less than sign is a universally adopted math symbol of two equal measure strokes that meet in the acute angle at the left.
TeX provides two primitive commands \uppercase and \lowercase to change the case of text; theyre not much used, but are capable creating confusion.
The less than ( ) operator returns true if the left operand is less than the right operand, and false otherwise.
